Dilemma's van diversiteit: Diversiteitsbeleid en -praktijk
Keywords:
diversity, diversity policy, migration, migrants, integration, integration policySynopsis
The discussion paper sets out how diversity policy is put into practice. How, by whom, and for whom is this policy formulated? Which problems are identified and by whom, and what is proposed as the solution?
In the Netherlands, the debate on differences within society is conducted in a heated tone. Some policymakers speak positively of a 'super-diverse society' and base their policies on this. Right-wing political parties emphasise their aim for a more homogeneous Netherlands and achieve electoral success with this message. These debates raise fundamental questions about the meaning of diversity and about who has the power to define this concept.
This publication presents eight double interviews with people working on this subject as researchers at universities or research institutions, people who formulate or implement policy, and people who influence policy by organising and protesting.
